As We Begin The New Year, We Wish You Many Blessings

New Years Day Peace Blessing

May God bless you with intolerance for easy answers, half truths, and superficial relationships, so that you may live deep within your heart,

May God bless you with sensitivity to injustice, oppression and exploitation of people, so that you may encourage work for justice, freedom and peace.

May God bless you with tears to shed for those who suffer from pain, rejection, starvation and war, so that you may reach out your hand to comfort them and to turn their pain into joy.

May God bless you with leaders who truly believe that Peace is possible, and who have an absolute intolerance for war.

And may God bless you with enough foolishness to believe that you can make a difference in this world, so that you can do what others claim cannot be done.

Reading this, and seeing the source I am pleasantly reminded of
Tau House in New Orleans, where I and my fellow MCC volunteers
( We buddied with Franciscan volunteers, I mean young people
mostly doing similar kind of job that our group were doing.) But
Tau House in the French Quarter was a small houe and chapel
run by St. Francis Brothers with a particular ministry to Aides
We dearly loved them, though sadly I’ve forgotten their names
now. There was no Mennonite Church in New Orleans, and
we “shopped around” on Sunday, quite happily actually, but the
Tau House, Fransican brothers, was a great favorite, and in time became the closest
thing we had to a regular church outside our own in house
    weekly worship.
